Let's talk about HIGHLIGHTERS

If you are an avid follower of beauty trends, you surely noticed

highlighters are a major part of any glam look.

It's a fabulous way of distracting from dark circles and sallow areas,

and brings back the focus on the areas you want to accentuate.

You might hear the term "strobing" and wondering what's the difference,

the good news is: there is none! It's the exact same thing.

It should be applied on the high points of your face and create that "glow from within".

How do we define strobing?

It's basically a "highlighter application (typically shimmer) on the

high planes of the face, where light would naturally bounce off."

Follow the map below and place highlighter on some (or all) of the areas in white.

Highlighter can be applied by itself, before foundation or after, depending on the desired result.

You can choose from a variety of highlighters on the market, ranging from liquid to cream to powder.

For dry and combination skin, liquids or creams are your go-to.

For acne prone or oily skin types, use a powder highlighter so it won’t clog pores.

Highlighting/ Strobing is not at all time consuming,

but you should be careful when choosing the right formula & tone.

Usually cream-based are doing the best job in replicating these skin’s natural glow.

Avoid glittery highlights if you are aiming for a subtile look.

Don't choose a shade that's too dark or that doesn't match your skin tone.

Cool-toned highlighters on warm skin and warm-toned highlighters on cool skin will look unnatural,

and defeat the purpose of strobing, which is meant to look like "no-makeup makeup."

If your skin is FAIR to LIGHT - light pink and light beige highlighters are going to suit you best.

Ones with LIGHT to MEDIUM skin should go for some champagne. Tone, that is.

If your skin is MEDIUM OLIVE to GOLDEN, go for a burnished gold shade.

GOLDEN to DEEP can also try a burnished gold, but also a dark peach or terracotta shade.
