Looks like spring still haven't arrived to New York but the good news is that Frieze New York is coming back. This show first touched down from London in 2002 and this is its seventh year in New York. The big white tent on Randall’s Island will once again host over 200 international galleries.
Following Armory Arts Week, Frieze New York will return to Randall’s Island from May 4th to 6th with VIP previews on the 2nd and 3rd. Frieze will attract a number of satellite art shows to the city and will showcase the world’s most significant artists and galleries as well as expanded programming under the helm of newly-appointed Artistic Director Loring Randolph.
Debut throughout the fair is 'Live', a platform for installations, performances, and interactive projects curated by Adrienne Edwards. Also, new exciting addition is The Frieze Artist Award, an international open call for emerging artists and it's also curated by Edwards.
Another new feature is Allied Editions, a collective of non-profit institutions offering visitors the opportunity to purchase affordable artworks by prominent artists. Artists Space, CCS Bard, Sculpture Center and Triple Canopy will partner with Camden Art Centre, ICA, Whitechapel Gallery and Studio Voltaire to present specially commissioned works by international artists from as little as $120.
