Heavenly Catholic Fashion

First Monday in May we celebrate the fashion, creativity, and inspiration. This year's MET Gala exhibition is titled Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic, and it was also opportunity for fashion designers, stylist and celebrities to come up with ideas that will take our breath away. It is enough to say that the MET Gala was the chance for stars to put their "Sunday best" and preach their fashion faith as best as they can do. From Virgin Mary to Joan of Arc and Rihanna's sexy-looking-pope outfit were just a small part of diverse choices that was seen on the red carpet in front of Metropolitan Museum of Art. We are bringing you our top five looks of the evening.

1. Sarah Jessica Parker in Dolce & Gabbana

Last year she missed MET gala due to the her work on the HBO show "Divorce", but this year she was back and she, yet again confirmed that she takes MET red carpet and theme seriously. Form head to toe she was wearing Dolce & Gabbana alta moda. Entire look was completed with the intricate headwear not only featured incredible detailing and jewels, but it also included an actual nativity scene.

On the red carpet she said that she is always inspired by the themes, adding: "One can only do your best. This was particularly enjoyable because Dolce & Gabbana—they’re devoted observant Catholics—and so they’ve grown up with the church and imagery and they had a lot of strong feelings and beautiful sketches so it was easy."

2. Jerad Leto & Lana Del Ray in Gucci

If Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalen attended this year MET Gala event they would probably look something like Jared Leto and Lana Del Rey entirely dressed wearing Gucci. Behind this look is crazy talented Alessandro Michele, who really must be in his element with this year's theme because he was able to show symbols of Catholic church well incorporated in current Gucci fashion story. Who else can present better Michele's vision than Jerad & Lana? For this occasion, this was a success.

3. Rihanna in Maison Margiela

The 30-year-old music and makeup mogul channeled the Pope in a beaded ensemble by Maison Margiela complete with a hat that was reminiscent of the papal tiaras worn by popes from the medieval era until the mid-1960s. Rihanna served us club version of the pope outfit, and as usual, unapologetically, she stole the MET Gala red carpet. Behind this look, it is more than the visible signature of fashion genius John Galliano.

4. Zendaya in Versace

Joan of Arc was one of the inspirations for the red carpet. Zendaya broth her version of this look thanks to yet another successful collaboration with well-known stylist Law Roach. He said that he had an inspiration for the armor looking gown that first came to him in a dream. "When I knew the theme and Versace, we started the conversation, there were a lot of sketches from Versace, and I started thinking about strong women who had a connection to religion."

5. Kim Kardashian West in Versace

Kim Kardashian West may have has taken the theme "Heavenly Bodies" on a different level. The reality star, mother of three and beauty mogul, walked the Met Gala red carpet in one of her best looks so far. She was dripping in gold from head to toe in signature glitzy Versace corseted gown embellished with crosses that hugged every curve of her recognizable and celebrated frame. The queen of makeup did a boldly lined dark, smokey eye and a high half pony that added sass to her look.
